Jon Larkin

Coach Jon R. Larkin played three years of varsity volleyball at Claremont High School (1997).  He received a scholarship to play for UCLA in 1997 but tore his ACL the second week of practice.  After recovery, he switched over to beach volleyball and spent a year playing and training in the Association of Volleyball Professionals (AVP), volleyball’s version of the NFL, MLB, NHL, etc.  God had different plans and in 1999 he joined the United States Air Force.  He had the opportunity to spend two years playing on the Air Force Team and another three years as the assistant coach.

Coach Larkin honorably separated from the military in 2012 and proceeded to earn his bachelor’s of science in Civil Engineering from Cal Poly Pomona.  He has been married to his wife, Briane Larkin, for 14 years.  They each came into the marriage with a child (one is attending college at Cal Poly Humboldt and the other is a Senior at Santiago High School).  Together, they have 2 children that attend BCS: Tristen (class of 2029) and Emily (class of 2033).

In 2022 he applied for and accepted a position teaching the physical sciences to middle and high school students at BCS.  He is currently teaching 8th Grade Science, Chemistry, Physics, Math and STEM.  This will be his second year as the assistant coach for the middle school girls volleyball team.
